Hi! I’m Wyatt! I am 6 years old. When I was born with 12 fingers and have gone to Shriners Children’s St. Louis since I was 6 months old. Before Shriners a doctor said I would not be able to write my name by kindergarten, he was wrong! I had the best handwriting in my class and wrote and sketched the illustrations for a book.
I decided to write my book, Wyatt’s Big Adventure with Shriners, to let other kids know it’s okay to be different and to see if little kids can do big things (like David in the Bible).
My book is now published and is available at the Marketplace this weekend. I will donate part of the proceeds back to the hospital, Plane of Mercy and Wings of Hope.
Last year, I had two surgeries to straighten my thumbs. When we were at the hospital in
May I saw a poster for the Stroll into Summer walk and knew I wanted to help. I recruited my friends and family to walk with me. We had the largest team, and I was the top fundraiser for the
whole event! This year, I was the Stroll Captain and lead the walk. I also kept my top fundraiser title by raising over $3,500! I am impressed with how the Shriners run the hospital and all the
people who fixed my thumbs. I really like Shriners! Now I am a hospital ambassador. In July, I went to the Kansas Shrine Bowl and Moila Family Fun Day. On September 24, I will be the youngest author and presenter at the Kansas Book Festival, so I will get to tell more people about Shriners. My papa and uncle,
Kyle and Nick Rhorer, are 3rd and 4th generation Shriners and members of the Midian Arab Patrol.
Our entire family is extremely thankful for all Shriners has done. My dad and mom, Richard and Amanda, say they are very proud of my gracious heart, big goals and determination. We can’t wait to see what adventure comes next! For more information on my book, you can contact us at Wyattsbigadventure@gmail.com.
Thank you to all Shriners for being AWESOME!
